On the picture

Captions appear as people speak.

Your streaming software lays them over the camera picture, like subtitles on television. Viewers need nothing new.

A stream with a Finnish caption above its English translation, next to a list of languages.

Languages

The speaker's words, a translation, or both.

Show the original for viewers who can't hear, a translation for those who speak another language, or the original above its translation.

Streaming software with a browser source selected and the Spiiksi overlay link in its URL field.

Setup

One link, added as a browser source.

Copy the overlay link into OBS, vMix or a web studio. It stays the same every week, so your scene is ready for the next stream.

Common questions

What does it cost?
Captions in the spoken language cost €0.05 a minute. Each translated language costs €0.10 a minute, and the spoken language's captions are then included. If a language also gets the interpreted voice, it is billed at the interpretation price. You pay only for the minutes when sound comes in. Prices exclude VAT. With card charge, at least €10 or an hour is reserved on your card, and only the actual use is charged once the stream is over.Pricing
Which streaming software does it work with?
Anything that can show a web page over the picture: OBS Studio, vMix, Wirecast, Ecamm Live, Streamlabs and web studios. A hardware mixer such as an ATEM can use the green background and its chroma key.Setup guide
Do viewers need to do anything?
No. The captions are part of the video they already watch on YouTube, Facebook or your website.
How quickly do the captions appear?
Captions in the spoken language follow the speaker word by word. A translation arrives a sentence at a time, a few seconds after the speaker. Delaying the camera by a few seconds in OBS lines them up with the picture.
Can I try it before going live?
Yes. The setup shows a preview, and the test link plays sample captions with your look in OBS, without any sound and at no cost.
Can the stream carry the translated voice?
Yes. Turn on the interpreted voice for a language, and the same link plays it in OBS as its own audio source.
