Listeners can read Bible passages on the event's listening page alongside the sermon or talk. No app is needed. The feature is off by default for every event and is available without a subscription.
Enable Bible passages for an event
- Open the event under Events, then press Edit.
- Turn on Automatic Bible verse detection and press Save changes.
- Open Preview as a listener to check the listening page.
The event's Automatic Bible verse detection audience-tool card controls the same setting. Turning it off hides both the Bible browser and spoken-passage displays for listeners.
Automatic references use the AI interpretation transcript, or live captions for original audio. Enable live captions on an original-audio channel if you want spoken references detected there. Manual browsing does not need a spoken reference or live captions.
Choose your own passage
On the listening page, press Open Bible, choose Book and Chapter, then press Open passage. Choose From verse and To verse for a range, or leave All to read the full chapter. The available books come from the published translation and can include additional books.
Use Change passage, Previous chapter or Next chapter to move around. Earlier passages lets you reopen a passage from this listening session. Choosing a passage yourself pauses automatic following and keeps your reading in place when the speaker names another passage.
Follow the speaker
When the speaker names a reference, such as John 3:16, Spiiksi can open the published passage automatically while you are following. Speech detection currently recognizes references within the 66-book Protestant canon.
If you are reading your own passage, a small The speaker is reading prompt shows the latest spoken reference. Press Follow speaker to open that reference and resume automatic following. If several references arrive, the prompt offers the latest one. Close passage also pauses following; it does not stop the event's audio or change another listener's screen.
Bible translations and permissions
The text comes from a published Bible translation in your listening language where available, with the World English Bible as the English fallback for missing translations or passages. The reader shows the edition and language. AI detects references; it does not write or translate the Bible text. There is currently no translation-edition picker.
Newer translations require digital publishing agreements with their publishers. Finnish KR1992 and UT2020 are not currently available in Spiiksi. If you would like a particular translation, please contact our team about its availability; see Contact and support.
If Bible passages are missing or incorrect
- No Open Bible button: ask the organizer to enable Automatic Bible verse detection. This setting controls the whole feature.
- No automatic passage: check that an AI transcript or original-audio live captions are available. AI can miss or misidentify a reference; open the correct passage manually.
- Still seeing your own passage: press Follow speaker if you want to return to the latest reference.
- A loading error: press Try again and check your connection. A passage failure does not stop the audio.
